The Power of Signs | Signarama San Diego (Kearny Mesa), CA

The Power of Signs

Think about the significant difference in the following two messages:

We serve everyone.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

We’re not going to get political here and take a side on the issue of these “dueling signs.” The message we want to pass along is that it’s important to remember how powerful a sign can be; just ask the folks in Indiana.

As a business that creates signs, we consider it part of our job to guide customers not only with respect to material choices, sizes, color and placement, but also verbiage. With very few exceptions (perhaps campaign signs), signs are not typically meant to inflame people’s belief system, but provide information. Because signs how great power, it’s important to be crystal clear and eliminate words or phrases that can be misconstrued or even offensive.

If you have even the slightest doubt that your sign verbiage may result in unexpected, negative consequences, you should consider revising it. Our team can be a good sounding board, but it can also be of value to bounce your copy off a cross-section of people—perhaps even customers—to get their feedback. They may respond in ways you didn’t foresee.

As always, Signarama—Kearny Mesa is here to guide you through the sign-creation process to ensure your end product reflects your message in a clear and non-controversial way.
